Matt Bencivenga’s affinity for cannabis began when he was a teenager. Fascinated by the differences from one variety to another, he began seeking more information at a time when most sources where still not widely available. Growing the best cannabis possible with the best genetics available became his quest, which led him to Colorado in 2009. That quest has materialized to quantifiable success, and Bencivenga has won a slew of achievements and awards including sourcing the genetics for three-time Cannabis Cup first place Ghost Train Haze as well as a number of first place wins at a variety of local cannabis competitions. His favorite aspects of growing are analyzing terpene/cannabinoid profiles of the plant and drawing correlations to effects people report after using a particular strain.Growing strains for therapeutic value to help people in ways we haven’t even considered yet is what keeps him “growing,” he says.
